We leave the day after tomorrow. I spent today getting together everything I will need and packing. We leave DC Thursday afternoon and land in Dublin early the following morning. We are going to stay there for a day and then take a train to Galway, where our study abroad program will be held at NUIG. The picture to the right is of Galway bay, which promises to be gorgeous.The program runs until July 26th. After that, our plan is to do a bit of traveling through Ireland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. We will be spending time in Cork, Paris, Marseille, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Prague over the following 26 days or so, returning to the States on August 20th. Feel free to leave comments if you have been to any of these places and have any suggestions of where to go, what to see, etc. They will be greatly appreciated. We have done some research about the places we are going, but you can only find out so much with guidebooks and the internet.
There is not a whole lot to say right now, as I am still in Norfolk, but I will try to keep you updated on what is going with Laura and me throughout our travels.

Lonely Planet and the internet are great, don't get me wrong, but personal suggestions are more fun.
Galway Bay is great, there's a fantastic walk to it that runs along a river in the middle of the city. It's surrounded by buildings, but itself is as green and pretty as can be. I recommend walking it to the end and sitting down below the wall at the edge of the Bay. I sat there for a while just writing when I was there.
There is also ample grass space there, where people sometimes play football. Another recommendation: play football with anyone you possibly can. Some friends and I played with a group of young Italian kids who destroyed us (on the campus you pass walking into Galway from where you'll be staying) as well as with some grown Irish fellows down at the beach (not Bay). I forget the name of the beach, but it was a lot of fun going there. It's a LONG walk though, so take a bus or plan for a day.
One thing, there's a huge trash dump across the river at the Bay, kind of an eyesore. Don't look left.
